The Good Wife
At least I like to think so. First and foremost, I think I can say with utmost certainty that CLH can count on one hand the amount of times he has washed clothes -- and they were his anyway. Also, CLH has never made dinner for us other than a frozen pizza in the oven. Loading and unloading the dishwasher? Forget about it. I'm not keeping score or saying all this because I resent it or he's a slacker. Far from it! I, on the other hand, have used a lawn mower one time in my entire life. I wait for him to do any needed repairs on things although I'm quite capable of wielding a screwdriver, hammer, etc. I can even fix the plumbing . . . but why would I want to? I take out the garbage and recycling ALOT.
What I think makes me a good wife . . . circumstances like the past six days. CLH's mom, my MIL, has been visiting. Six days is a LOOOOOONNNGGG time. She's a great guest - even makes up the bed which is more than I do. But I've gotten thrown off my normal track. This is completely my issue -- I feel like I have to entertain her. So I feel guilty for leaving her to go for my usual morning workout or to my mall run or to anything. Thanks to her though, I was able to do things like my two-hour nap yesterday. Otherwise, I would be picking up the boys from school in a Bendryl-induced hazed. (By the way, I now have a little red shrimp bump in the palm of my hand.)
Speaking of a good wife, who has seen the amazing show?! It comes on tonight -- at 10 O'CLOCK. Obviously whoever is in charge of scheduling didn't take into account that most good wives are dog-tired that late at night and if they're like me, struggling to keep both eyes open. Back to the show, I have a more love-than hate feeling for Cary (does it have something to do with his name?) and a should-I-be-feeling-this-love for Kalinda (not because she swings both ways but because I think she slept with Alicia's husband!) Anyway, I love this show and I love Alicia. Although she may be clueless about her husband, she knows that and doesn't make any apologies for it. She is smart and lives her life the way that makes her happy (except for her unrequited longing for her college sweetheart.) She is accomplished, successful and a good mother. She is an all-around good person.
And she likes her wine. She's a good wife in my book.
